The Biscuit Box is a cosy countryside escape tucked between Penrith and Carlisle, ideal for couples, solo travellers, or small families looking to relax and explore the beauty of Cumbria. Nestled in the peaceful village of Low Hesket, just off the A6, it offers a perfect blend of character, comfort, and convenience.

Lovingly restored over the past year, The Biscuit Box is our personal labour of love. We’ve poured care and attention into every detail to create a warm, stylish space filled with thoughtful touches. Guests often describe it as a charming and peaceful retreat—a true home away from home.

Whether you’re after a romantic weekend, a quiet solo break, or quality time with loved ones, The Biscuit Box offers the perfect base for discovering the Lake District or simply unwinding in comfort. The property is pet-friendly and features private parking, peaceful surroundings, and beautiful countryside walks right from the doorstep.

What to Expect

The interior is open-plan, calm, and well-equipped for a simple, relaxing stay. It includes a comfortable double bed and a high-rise airbed that can be set up on request for additional guests or children.

The kitchenette provides everything you need for easy meals, including an air fryer, induction hob, microwave, kettle, and toaster. The bathroom features a modern shower, basin, and a portable eco-friendly toilet.

We’ve chosen a portable eco-friendly toilet because it allows us to offer modern, comfortable facilities while reducing our environmental impact. Unlike a traditional plumbed WC, this system uses minimal water, requires no heavy chemical cleaners, and significantly lowers the demand on local drainage. It’s a sustainable solution that supports responsible tourism, protects the surrounding natural environment, and still provides guests with a clean, hygienic, and convenient bathroom experience.

While The Biscuit Box is a smoke-free environment, pets are welcome, and an enclosed garden can be accessed by arrangement.

Please note there is no television in the property. Complimentary WiFi is available, and we recommend bringing a tablet or laptop for entertainment.

A bus stop directly opposite the property connects you to both Penrith and Carlisle, where mainline train services are available.

Parking: Free parking on a gated driveway (please close the gates behind you)

Garden & Laundry: Access to the garden and washing machine available upon request

House rules: No smoking or vaping inside the property. Quiet hours are from 9:00 PM to 9:00 AM.
